Chiropractic & Pregnancy
We support healthy pregnancy and natural birth.

“At week 33 of my pregnancy, my baby was in the breech position, which left me feeling disheartened and I spent several days in tears because I wanted to avoid a cesarean delivery. My gynecologist decided to monitor me for an additional three weeks, hoping the baby would turn into the vertex position. However, if the baby didn’t reposition, I would be scheduled for a direct C-section the next day.
Fortunately, my doula recommended Inspired Chiropractic, and with just three chiropractic visits, my baby miraculously turned head down and engaged in the proper position. As a result, I was able to deliver my baby girl naturally within just an hour. I am incredibly grateful to Inspired Chiropractic for their assistance. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

1. Why Chiropractic care during pregnancy?

To ensure optimal baby positioning and birth outcome by improving mother’s pelvic balance. When the mother’s pelvis is out of alignment, the ligaments that connect the pelvis to the uterus increase their tension (tone), resulting in a distortion to the baby’s environment.

For the baby, the surrounding walls of the uterus tighten with pelvic imbalance, becoming more and more like tight bedsheets that restrict movement. The chiropractic adjustment to the pelvis releases tension to the ligaments and uterus, allowing the baby to move freely and assume the best possible position throughout pregnancy.

2. What is Webster Technique?

Larry Webster, founder of the ICPA developed a specific technique which has been shown to allow for optimal baby positioning during pregnancy. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of subluxation and/or SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neurobiomechanical function in the sacral/pelvic region is improved.

Many women are seeking ICPA chiropractors and the Webster Technique throughout their pregnancy.
For every stage of pregnancy, this adjustment reduces interference to the nervous system — a vital benefit to improve physiology for both the mother and her baby. When a mother’s physiological function is at its best, her baby’s development is optimized. Balancing the pelvic bones, muscles, and ligaments and improving normal physiology sets the stage for a natural birth.

Chiropractic care and the Webster Technique may allow for safer, easier births!

3. What are the benefits of Prenatal Chiropractic care?

– Adaptability to stressors
– Controlling symptoms of nausea
– Easier Labour and delivery
– Preventing a potential Cesarean
– Relief pain and discomfort
– Optimal baby positioning

More and more women are discovering the many benefits associated with chiropractic care in pregnancy. Chiropractors respect the body’s natural design and function and support your desire for a safer, easier birth.

4. Can Chiropractic help turn a breech baby?

A research study in 2002 showed a reported 92% success rate of babies turning to a vertex position following use of the Webster Technique. The study also suggests that the Webster Technique may be beneficial to use in the 8th month of pregnancy when breech presentation is unlikely to spontaneous change and when external cephalon version technique is not effective.

5. Is Chiropractic safe for pregnant women?

Yes! Webster Technique is gentle, specific and effective Chiropractic adjustment. It utilized assisted drop piece and soft tissues release to work on the muscles and ligaments of the pelvis.
